ACT 3 DRAMA ACADEMY HOLIDAY WORKSHOPS FOR KIDS

By Kristine Ong

The festive season is almost upon us, and with that, ACT 3 Drama Academy’s highly anticipated Holiday workshops return once more for the final instalment this year, from November 2015, right through to January 2016.

ACT 3 Drama Academy is well known for helping to nurture children to discover their talent and aspirations build confidence and develop them socially through experiential learning and innovative programmes.

Since 1999, the Holiday Workshops, held four times a year, have been very well-received and much favoured by parents and children for its well- rounded and stimulating programs that encourage learning through interaction, creativity, movement and self-expression. Past workshops have worked on scripts such as The Chronicles of Narnia, Alice in Wonderland, Doctor DoLittle, Journey to the Centre of the Earth, Moby Dick and 1001 Arabian Nights.

ACT 3 Drama Academy - 3-7 years

This year, parents can expect more lovely storylines and scripts such as The Elves and The Shoemaker as well as The Nutcracker, just to name a few. Parents can also rest assured that each child will be very well taken care of as all workshops are conducted by seasoned drama teachers trained in Theatre Studies and Drama. All workshops typically consist of no more than 15 children at any one time, ensuring that ample attention is given to each child.

ACT 3 Drama Academy is also proud to be one of the first educators in Singapore to introduce drama workshops specially structured for babies – It’s All About Colours (for children 7 months to 17 months) inspired by Ellen Stoll Walsh’s Mouse Paint about three adorable albino mice and their antics with paint. The focus of these sessions lie primarily in cultivating an awareness of external stimuli to the five senses, social interaction skills and bonding with parents.

“We are thrilled that our workshops for babies are gaining popularity, as this is an age group that we feel could very much benefit from the wonders of drama. In addition, the holidays are always a joy for children everywhere. And what better way than to use drama inspired by the year-end holiday season to make our workshops all the more merrier!” elaborates Artistic Director Ruby Lim-Yang.

Another highlight of this series is a Pantomime workshop for teens – Christmas, Past, Present, and Furture, inspired by Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Teens will have a riot learning special techniques of miming and movement and plenty of physicality on stage!
