Artist Poesy Liang has had quite a life. Being diagnosed with acute thoracic intradural meningioma that resulted intumour masses coiling around her spinal cord, rendering her a paraplegic the first time at the age of 17. 2 years later saw her miraculous recovery and she was back ballroom dancing on television in 1994.

Poesy and underwent more surgeries in 2003 and 2006 for the same condition, and has since then remained free of the disease, battling paralysis twice she is now walking by sheer will and is unable to feel accurate sensation in her legs.  Despite her tumultuous beginning, Poesy started Helping Angels that helps the underprivileged and disadvantaged with no holds barred and no agenda, with 4 principals of no fundraising, no commerce, no religion and no politicsUnder the branded movement, she started the Thursday Tutoring Program to aid shelter home children of 5 homes to date in Kuala Lumpur and also the ChowKids Art Angels program  where she personally mentor young refugees to create art by offering an avenue of sales to help them earn a lifelihood and contribute to their family finances at a young age in order to keep the children off potential vice.

Poesy also shaved her head for the Bald Empathy Movement at the 64th Cannes Film Festival in 2011 to raise awareness about cancer and various issues.

This multi-talented woman is a classically trained artist, music composer, founder of various philanthropic movements and Helping Angels, author, motivational speaker, principal of a jewellery brand, and a multi-discipline designer, as well as an interior architect. Poesy was awarded Her World Woman Of The Year 2011 (Malaysia), named NTV7 Top 5 Inspirational Woman for Bella Awards 2013 and recipient of NewMan Johnnie Walker Philanthropy Award 2013 (Malaysia).

Though she does not have children of her own, Poesy has devoted her life to making other people’s lives better, much like a mother would for her child.  Poesy believes education and creative development can empower children, nurturing tomorrow’sleader.  She sets out to change the world by devoting her time in programs to help children and leaders. Besides the tutoring programs, Poesy also started a Gratitude Letters project for Helping Angels in Hong Kong, the Concert Series where world class musician members perform for the blind and visually impaired in San Francisco, the Concert Series in Taipei with the orphans, distributing art supplies and bottled water to the street children in Senegal too, just to name some of the things she has kept herself busy with besides building her artistic and creative portfolio, and working to empower leaders and grassroots volunteers.
