A PERFORMANCE FOR FAMILIES TO ENJOY : ARTS IN YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD

Arts in Your Neighbourhood is a National Arts Council (NAC) initiative and is happening from 5th November to 22nd November.  Featuring 15 established local artists and arts groups, we can also see an Australian artist with his environmental installation called ‘The Blue Trees’.

This mix of Arts and performance for families features a myriad of exciting dance, music, visual arts, literary arts and theatre programmes to be enjoyed right at your doorstep.

Arts in Your Neighbourhood will be include a number of acts, most of which are suitable for families, we pick out Together We Watch which is a piece specially commissioned for this edition of Arts in Your Neighbourhood;

Together We Watch by MySuperFuture Theatrical Productions is inspired by void deck childhood experiences of watching a common television at the neighbourhood community centre.  No stranger to conceptualising and producing theatre for young audiences, Ian Loy brings nostalgic stories and songs to life with this special commissioned piece.  This production is also the first time oe of Ian’s works will be held in an outdoor setting at the Ang Mo Kio Central Stage and SAFRA Toa Payoh.

More Highlights at Arts in Your Neighbourhood include;

I Tell You… by I Theatre.  Told through the perspective of a local taxi driver, this unique theatrical storytelling trail takes audiences on a whirlwind journey through the Tiong Bahru estate as the cast brings local stories and interesting characters to life.

The Blue Trees by Konstantin Dimopoulos – Be among the first to view this spectacular artwork, and be a part of this historic moment.  Join in the fun as attention to issues surrounding global defrostation is raised through the medium of public art.  Meet the artist available on Sunday, 8th November 2015 sign up HERE

There’s also a drumming group, a glimpse of Indian classic dance, Street dance by Legacy Dance Co, cappella by MICapella, saxophonists from The Philharmonic Winds,

WEST – Boon Lay Shopping Centre, Jurong Regional Library, Jurong West Public Library, SAFRA Jurong, Tanglin Halt, Yew Tee Square
