Miss traveling? Why not discover Singapore in a new light with these programmes at the Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM)? Highlights include their popularized Lunchtime Concerts, family activities like the returning Children’s Season and virtual offerings.
Lunchtime Concerts
This season, the Asian Civilisations Museum’s popular Lunchtime Concerts are coming to you virtually. Listen to a livestream of enchanting and thought-provoking music brought to you by the students and faculty of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (YST) while enjoying your delicious meal.
Regardless of whether you’re working from home or the office, this free lunchtime interlude of inspiring, live music offers you a much-needed break from your mundane routine! If you are wondering what to do in Singapore and prefer virtual bonding activities, the performances will be livestreamed every Friday at 12.30pm, between 2 October and 13 November, on ACM’s Facebook Page.
Activities for Kids in Singapore: Better Together
Of course, while we are enjoying ourselves with some classical music, we must not forget to keep our little monsters engaged. From 21 November to 13 December 2020, there are plenty of activities for kids in Singapore as the Children’s Season at the Asian Civilisations Museum is back with both online and self-guided activities!
These family activities aim to encourage our children to reflect on hope, kindness, and resilience. These values encourage us to stay connected with our loved ones and keep our spirits bright, which is especially important in these trying times.
Mimicking a real-life treasure hunt, discover objects on their special Children’s Season trail and create new memories with your family and friends. If you are a parent who is looking for family activities and checking for options on what to do in Singapore, then you got yourself covered. Besides their self-guided season trail, you and your little one can also engage in live-streamed performances, storytelling, craft-making activities and fun workshops.
Virtual Bonding Activities: Digimuse at the Asian Civilisations Museum
From 2 December to 16 January 2020, you can try your hand at conserving a painting through mixed reality with Project Insight by HelloHolo at the Asian Civilisations Museum. Experience one of ACM’s virtual bonding activities as you try the delicate art of painting conservation for yourself. Using their mixed reality smart glasses with holographic overlays, you will be able to work on the paintings ‘Two Port Views: Amoy’ and ‘Fuzhou in ACM’s Maritime Trade gallery’.
Through these smart glasses, you will be able to glimpse the many layers of the restoration process, made possible by a combination of condition reports and scans.
In addition to the eye-opening experience of painting conservation, you can also experience life as an archaeologist for the day, with their ‘An Excavation Through Time’ programme by iMMERSiVELY at ACM.
This virtual reality game that you can include among your family activities, is enabled by a gaming headset and motion-tracked handheld controllers which takes you through a first-hand immersive experience at the Empress Place excavations in 1998 and 2015 where you get to experience unearthing artefacts dating from the 14th century.
