The Dragon Boat Festival, known as Duan Wu Jie (端午节) originated from China. Commemorating Qu Yuan who is a minister and poet in the ancient state of Chu during the Zhou Dynasty, it falls on the 5th day of 5th month on the Chinese lunar calendar.
