EARTH HOUR, DARE TO BARE SIGN UP AND 11 YEAR OLD ART PRODIGY : A MIX OF HAPPENINGS THIS MARCH AND APRIL 2015
Eco-Mall joins millions across the globe to celebrate Earth Hour on 28th March 2015. City Square Mall will be switching off lights in selected areas, and extinguishing other non-essential lighting, from 8.30pm to 9.30pm in an effort to increase awareness of energy conservation for this year’s Earth Hour. Both before and after the Earth Hour lights off, City Square Mall will be hosting family activities at Basement 1 Fountain Square to bring focus on resource-saving too. The highlight to this lights-off Earth Hour at City Square Mall will be the FREE outdoor screening of the family movie, The Croods. Watch as The Croods discover new technologies and the importance of family, love and kinship in a time before electricity.
Sign up for the Bare Your Sole 2015 event. Habitat for Humanity Singapore’s annual walkathon Bare Your Sole returns for its seventh year on Saturday, 30th May 2015 so, once again, its time to Kick of those shoes and sandals and walk barefoot among thousands of others for a worthy cause. Funds raised from the 2km and 4km barefoot charity walkathon supports Habitat for Humanity Singapore’s Project HomeWorks programme, which is a local initiative aimed at improving the living conditions of the elderly, the sick and the physically challenged living in one-room flats in Singapore. Aside from the walkathon, Bare Your Sole 2015 will feature a wide range of activities such as a high elements course with flying fox and rock-climbing wall, a Habitat Village and a Kids’ Corner, plus martial arts demonstrations and musical performances. Tokyo based Art Prodigy, Mondo brings his work to Singapore. This little artist from Japan is only 11 years old but he’s been a magazine cover designer and illustrator, he’s published a book, and his blog gets as many as 40,000 hits a day. Mondo started drawing portraits at the age of three and, this exhibit will feature many of his portraits of famous faces. He will also be adding to this with a series of ‘unique to Singapore’ drawings in celebration of SG50. Catch the art of Mondo at K+ Scotts Square #03-14/15, now until 12th April 2015.
