NOW UNTIL 14SEPTEMBER 2014 SEE THE FABULOUS LANTERN DISPLAY AND CELEBRATE THE MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL AT GARDENS BY THE BAY
Wow! Beautiful! Stunning! Sooooo nice! Those were just some of the remarks we overheard when we went along to catch the Mid-Autumn lantern display at the Gardens by the Bay.
Some 58 lanterns make up the display and visitors walked for about 1 ½ hours as they took in the magnificently crafted lantern displays. These elaborately crafted lanterns were the work of skilled craftsmen, who were especially brought into Singapore to build the lanterns on site.
We especially liked walking through ‘It’s a Small World’, with lantern displays showing Spain, Italy, Japan, South America, United Kingdom and of course Singapore. Our bubba had lots of fun and he loved to try and guess which country the colourful and ornate lanterns were depicting as well as counting how many sports were shown in the Singapore Sports Hub lantern display.
Within the ‘It’s a Small World’ display, is a section depicting Taiwan, there the lanterns were crafted by skilled Taiwanese workers. The lanterns in the Taiwan section of the lantern display were crafted using velvet material. We saw how the light from these lanterns was somewhat softer and created a different atmosphere to the more traditional Chinese lanterns
All lanterns were visually stunning and, being set in the beautiful setting of the Gardens by the Bay gave the eyes a real feast! But we didn’t just let our eyes feast, with stalls serving Chinese delicacies and refreshments as well as the stage area showing cultural performances, it was an entertaining event and an evening affair the whole family enjoyed.
The mid-autumn festival at Gardens by the Bay is an annual affair and ended on Sunday 14th September 2014.
The Mid-Autumn Festival Lantern display is an annual free attraction, all you need is comfortable walking shoes, stroller for bubba’s tired legs and cool water.
