U PICNIC SAW 7,000 ATTEND ITS THIRD EDITION OF THIS TRADITIONAL FAMILY-FRIENDLY FUN EVENT
Recently held at the West Coast Park, the NTUC U Family-organised U Picnic was back for its third year running. With a crowd of 7,000 in attendance, this family-filled crowd not only picnicked in mass, they also enjoyed stage activities with razzle-dazzle performances.
Some highlights of the U Picnic evening included a laser light show, most creative picnic set up competition, best dressed family competition, family challenges and guess the value contest.
Of the continued growing response to this U Picnic event year-on-year and of the U Picnic being an important occasion to bond as a family, Ms Toh Hwee Tin, Director of NTUC U Family said:-
“It is especially encouraging to see so many parents celebrating the occasion with their children even though it is in the midst of school examinations. This shows the love and support that parents are willing provide, so that their children enjoy a good balance between schoolwork and play.”
To help families prepare for the U Picnic, and give some interesting picnic food ideas, each family were given a basket upon registration for the U Picnic. Their basket consisted of food items by NTUC FairPrice, recipe cards, picnic mats and more.
This third edition of the NTUC U Family-organised U Picnic, with FairPrice Foundation as Main Sponsor, was graced by the presence of Mr Lim Swee Say, Secretary-General (SG) of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC). SG Lim took the opportunity to spend time with some of the families, captured some personal photo moments and tried his hand in a LED water drums performance.
All in all, the happy families enjoying fun, food and family bonding time was a huge success and we cannot wait to see it come back for its fourth edition in 2015.
Aside from the annual U Picnic event, U Family organize bonding events, networking opportunities for like-minded parents as well as platforms to contribute and advocate pro-family initiatives.
