ANNUAL U CARE BACK TO SCHOOL FAIR RETURNS WITH THE THEME ‘WHERE STORIES COME ALIVE’
Helping both parents and children alike prepare for the upcoming school year, the annual U Care Back to School Fair returns with activities for families to bond and learn together.
Members of the public can look forward to meet-the-author sessions with new and award-winning local children’s books authors, book launches and story-telling sessions. Parents can also pick up parenting tips, at talks to be held during the U Care Back to School Fair, such as; how to choose the right children’s books, financial and internet literacy and understanding how children learn through drawing.
This wonderful opportunity will see children and their families enjoying **hands-on activities to discover or rekindle their love of books and visitors can also look forward to shopping for school-related merchandise at the fair with discounts as high as up to 75% for NTUC members.
The U Care Back to School Fair 2014 – Where Stories Come Alive will be held from
Friday, 12 to Sunday, 14 December : 10am to 8pm daily
at The Plaza, National Library Building, 100 Victoria Street, Singapore 188064.
Project 1319
Additionally, on Friday, 12 December, Project 1319 will take place. This is a workshop and talks geared up to reach out to students who are aged 13 to 19 years old and will help them understand the importance of setting their life aspirations early through a self-discovery process.
Project 1319 commences at 10am on Friday, 12 December, content includes:-
10am – 12.30pm – Draw Out the Best in U (workshop) – Well-known comic artist, Mr Johnny Lau (creator of Mr Kiasu and ‘Jump Class’ comic series) will kick of Project 1319 with this workshop to self-discovery.
1.30pm – 3.30pm – Speakers will share their personal journeys of how they overcome challenges and discover what they really want in life. Speakers include Ahmad Hidayat, he world’s 2nd ranking barister and founder of Dutch Colony Coffee.
4pm – 6pm – A talk on how to Transform Yourself from Inside Out will share practical tips on how to communicate effectively in a competitive world and how to create personal branding.
**Participants will receive a pair of complimentary movie tickets if they attend any 2 of the above workshop/talks
**Do note that admission is FREE but, due to limited seating capacity, the talks are open to public walk-ins on a first come first served basis.
