MUST VISIT THE POPULAR BOOKFEST SINGAPORE 2014 AT SUNTEC CONVENTION HALLS 401-405
Popular BookFest@Singapore 2014 opened its doors on the 12 December at Suntec Convention Halls 401-405 and brings along ten exciting days of fun and learning.
This annual festival, in its eighth-year running, also celebrates PUPULAR’s Grand 90th Anniversary this year, we were at the opening ceremony and were among the crowd to sing Happy Birthday as the huge celebration cake was cut. During the ceremony, Popular was presented with the title of being Singapore’s largest book store chain – this certificate is on display during the BookFest period. Something more to catch sight of at the BookFest Singapore 2014 is Singapore’s Largest Comic Book (based on hit drama The Journey : A Voyage). This huge Comic Book stands at a hight of 1.7 meters with a width of 1.23 meters and Singapore’s Largest Comic Book weighs in at 49kg!
There are a host of activities lined up for the festival, including book signing sessions, celebrity meet-and-greet, art competitions, auctions and a grand lucky draw. Spanning across 100,000 square feet, this year’s event offers great discounts of up to 60% on books, stationery, CDs and other IT products. At the opening ceremony, Y.E.S. 93.3FM’s Lin Pei Fen launches her new book ‘Simplify’ which talks about her work, life and family in the past ten years.
Furthermore, the attendees at this year’s festival can also visit the iRememberGallery exhibition by Chou Sing Chu Foundation (CSCF), a non-profit organization supporting educational, cultural and language development in Southeast Asia. The iRememberBookstores, will take the booklovers on an exciting journey through time, with its collection of public memories and researches of the past and current bookstores in Singapore.
