TAKE PART IN GINGERBREAD HOUSE DECORATING WORKSHOPS WHILE FAMILIES ICE THE BOND OF TOGETHERNESS
Gather the family together for a fun and sweet activity as they participate in the traditional Christmas art of decorating the gingerbread house. A series of Gingerbread house decorating workshops will take place at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore. Between the dates of 6 to 21 December 2014, area executive pastry Chef will personally conduct the workshops every Saturday and Sunday from 3pm to 4pm.
Participants (one adult with one child) will be given a freshly baked gingerbread house and can set to work on decorating it with endless sweet treats and candy. We think this activity will really see parents spark creativity in their children and the participants can be as creative as they please with the endless colors and assortments of available candy. Each child will be given a set of exclusive apron and hat in festive colours and the decorated gingerbread house to bring home with them.
Whilst participating, children and adults can enjoy free-flowing festive snacks, including Frosted Berry Tartlets, Chocolate Profiteroles, Rainbow Donuts, Smiley Cupcakes and Christmas Panettone and Cookies that will for sure add more sweetness to the festive afternoon of family bonding and fun.
Organised by Shangri-La, this ‘Icing the Bond’ workshop event commemorates the tradition of making decorated gingerbread houses which began in Germany about 200 years ago. After the publication of the renowned Brothers’ Grimm fairy tale hansel and Gretel, German bakers began creating ornamented houses made from gingerbread. These Christmas treats flourished and arrived in the United States, where decorating gingerbread houses became a favourite way of celebrating Christmas for many families.
