RELIVE THOSE SUMMER NIGHTS WITH GREASE
The multi-million dollar musical Grease opens tonight by an Australian cast at MasterCard Theatres at Marina Bay Sands. The musical will run from 25 April to 18 May 2014.
The show premiered on Broadway in 1972 and later on in London starring a young, unknown Richard Gere as Danny Zuko. The stage production was adapted into a movie starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John in 1978 which was the highest grossing movie-musical of all time. Grease has since travelled worldwide with its amazing mix of adolescent angst and 50’s pop culture.

Grease is set in Rydell High following the lives of the working-class teenage students set in 1959. The story revolves around “bad boy” Danny Zuko who falls in love with “girl next door” Sandy Olssan.
The Australian cast includes Stephen Mahy who plays Danny Zuko and Gretel Scarlett as Sandy Olssan. Stephen acted as Kenickie in Grease Australian Tour and has been in many musicals including Jersey Boys, Miss Saigon and SPANK! The 50 Shades of Parody. Gretel has been awarded “Best Overall Showcase Performance” Leslie Anderson award, Hal Leonard Award and Finley Award, she has acted in Mamma Mia, WICKED and Breast Wishes.
The stage is transformed into Rydell High School with the amazing sets while the show opens with Miss Lynch teaching the audience a few songs to sing along with the cast. Sitting in the audience, one be brought back to the 1950’s era and tap their feet to the beats of the songs and be mesmerised by the singing and dancing, Grease musical is one breath stopping show not be missed.
