In time before the June school holidays ended, Southeast Asia’s largest LEGO Certified Store (LCS) at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) opened, featuring a new retail innovation that makes its debut in the region – LEGO Mosaic Maker. Located at the heart of the Sentosa island and spanning over 3,165 square feet, the new LCS aims to bring exciting in-store experiences to the builders of tomorrow.
“At The LEGO Group, we continue to innovate new play themes and experiences for children and adults alike. The opening of Southeast Asia’s largest LEGO Certified Store here in Singapore epitomises this with new features such as the first-ever LEGO Mosaic Maker in Southeast Asia and the prominent inclusion of adult fan creations that demonstrate the endless possibilities one can imagine and create with LEGO bricks. Families and fans are welcome to join us in this journey of creative play on the Sentosa island, synonymous to the state of fun,” said Cesar Ridruejo, General Manager, Southeast Asia at the LEGO Group.
Located at street level, the LCS sports a 17-metre tall store-front facade that resembles giant LEGO bricks combined and stacked to welcome visitors into a new LEGO world that is exciting and more expressive than the status quo. This eye-catching facade is accompanied by a customised Singapore-themed outdoor 3D model, sporting ‘I❤️SG’.
Upon entering the store, shoppers will be greeted by the largest mosaic wall in Singapore. Titled ‘Quay Colours’ and designed by Singapore LEGO® Certified Professional Nicholas Foo, the 2.3 metres high and 4 metres wide wall features a junk boat below the Cavenagh Bridge spanning the iconic Singapore River with the Fullerton Hotel landmark in its background. In celebration of the memories and stories shaped by the iconic river, the mosaic artwork is treated with a splash of colour that symbolises a vibrant way of life in Singapore, with the aim to inspire children to uncover new facets of a fascinating, ever-evolving story – this time with 103,680 LEGO pieces.
To mark the arrival of the LCS at an iconic Singapore landmark, visitors can pose next to the 1.4 metre tall and wide 3D model in-store featuring local landmarks including Sentosa, Supertrees at Gardens by the Bay and a Merlion Minifigure that is customised for Singapore for the first time.
The store highlight will definitely be the LEGO Mosaic Maker, which enables customers of all ages the opportunity to purchase their very own, personalised mosaic portrait. The photo booth-like machine starts off by capturing the customer’s portrait before printing the instructions and providing the bricks needed to build the portrait. Imagine what your face will look like made out of LEGO bricks. Each LEGO Mosaic Maker experience costs SGD 179.90.
At the heart of the store, shoppers will be drawn to the largest two-level diorama in Singapore, built by local adult fans of LEGO, Titans Creations. Designed to offer a bird’s eye view of Sentosa, shoppers can look out for familiar icons such as the Singapore Cable Car and the monorail on the island, as well as a mysterious water kingdom with its thrills and spills beneath it. Look out for mini-figures in different spots of this LEGO scene as they play a game of volleyball or sip cocktails by the beach while enjoying their island getaway. LEGO Certified Stores (Bricks World) is also welcoming fans to claim a permanent part in the diorama by participating in the Build-a-Merlion contest from tomorrow. LEGO fans across Singapore are invited to build their version of the iconic Singapore Merlion to fit on a 16×16 stud baseplate before posting its photo by tagging LEGO Certified Stores (Bricks World) lnstagram page with the hashtag #LEGORWS. The winning creation will take pride of place within the diorama along with a building credit. The contest runs from 25 June to 1 July, and a winner will be announced on its Facebook page on 5 August, with the build added to the diorama on 9 August.
Visitors can also look forward to the vertical play wall in-store which is the largest ever created with more than 11,000 LEGO pieces that are surrounded by 990 Minifigures representing the global population. As a fun and interactive activity, 30 pairs of twin Minifigures are hidden within for shoppers to spot while shopping.
As with all LCS, everyone is welcome to create the LEGO set of their dreams at the iconic Pick a Brick Wall where they can find the desired brick to complete their masterpiece, or build their own collectable LEGO characters piece by piece at the Build a Minifigure Station. For those who want to take a look at the completed set before purchase, they can head to the special AR interactive kiosk, Digibox, with a LEGO box set. The camera will visualise the assembled models with their intricate details in augmented reality. Alternatively, customers can also take inspiration from the many fully assembled models displayed throughout the store.
The LCS is where one can find the most complete LEGO collection including LCS exclusive sets. There is a Gift Centre where extended lines such as LEGO Mugs, LEGO keychains, LEGO Accessories and LEGO BrickheadzTM can be found to add to one’s collection. Fans can also join as LCS members to get exclusive early access to newly launched sets weeks before the official global launch dates and other member benefits.
To celebrate the opening, LCS at RWS will be launching a series of LEGO® Sentosa Arcade sets, exclusive to the brand store. From a mini Air Hockey to bumper cars and arcade machines, shoppers who spend a minimum of $88 can bring home one of these fun collectables during each promotion period, while stocks last.
