NOT JUST EDUTAINMENT APPS…THERE’S APPS FOR EVERY MAMA : FASHIONISTA, WINE LOVER, GREEN FINGERS, TAXI HAILER!
Applications or ‘Apps’ are popping up all of the time for everything from shopping and ordering taxis to helping us decide what to wear, what to drink or simply make life a little easier. We have a few new apps to mention that have been recently launched.
épicurio the wine lovers app
First up, Épicurio – the first Asian wine & Spirit Social App. This app is for those who; fancy themselves as a wine connoisseur, want to tell their friends what they are drinking, want to know what their friends are drinking, or simply for those who enjoy nice wine.
Clément Hochart, Co-Founder & CEO tells us that “Epicurio is the essential tool for every wine experience. Epicurio makes your wine tasting memorable, fun and finds you the retailer or online store supplying the wine of your choice in the country you are in.”
Going beyond the social aspect, Epicurio will see the user’s filters on budget, vintage, region and grape variety and help them make their choice of wine in their region while comparing prices. Users can then have bottles delivered at home or know where to pick up the bottle on the way back home. Retail partners of Epicurio currently include; bar works, drinks&co, Wine&Dine, The Wine Guild, Cellar Master Wines, Evangelista, Carecci, FD Wine, the odd bottle, Wickens & Co.
Epicurio is currently available to download free of charge to iPhone.

WEAR fashion app
Fashionistas are downloading the revolutionary fashion app, WEAR. This app which is essentially acting as a ‘fashion coordinated search service’ has been much-anticipated since its launch in Japan in October 2013, where it has since become the number 1 fashion mobile app (Japan). The comprehensive nature of this app walks the user through from start to end, browsing featured bloggers’ fashion looks to their eventual purchasing of their favourite fashion pieces.
WEAR features local and international fashion bloggers and celebrities (such as Noami Neo, Valerie Lim, Evon Chng, Chloe Choo, Jamie Tan, Darryl Yong, Tommy Wee and more) who regularly ‘model’ fashionable looks, upload images of their styles and tag the specific brands of their entire outfit. Followers and uses of the WEAR app will gain ideas on how to style outfits, as well as learn what are the latest fashion and trends. By viewing the exact pieces you see the ‘models’ wearing, and allowing the app to search for similar items, you are able to make an immediate purchase with the ease of a click of a button to the retailer’s web storefront.
WEAR contest : Your chance to become the recipient of the coveted WEARISTA Style Icon Award. WEAR will be selecting one lucky fashionista or blogger by end February 2015 who will, not only gain the WEARISTA Style Icon Award but will walk away with a return ticket to Tokyo and runway tickets to the Mercedes Benz Tokyo Fashion Week 2015, to be held in March 2015. To participate in the competition, participants will need to download the WEAR app and keep a ‘fashion diary’ by regularly uploading pictures of themselves wearing the latest fashion trends and looks, and hashtag the pictures with WEARISTASG and/or WEARSG. In addition, now until the end of the year, all participants must garner a minimum of 1,000 followers to their account on WEAR. The winner will then be selected by the WEAR team based on the most stylish and creative ‘looks’ featured on their ‘fashion diary’. Also, users who download the app and hashtag ‘WEARSG’ will be in the running to win S$200 shopping vouchers.
WEAR is available for free download on Android and iOS.
