WE REVIEW THE IMPERIAL ICE STARS SLEEPING BEAUTY ON ICE
The Imperial Ice Stars Sleeping Beauty on Ice has arrived at MasterCard Theatres, Marina Bay Sands, and wow it is fabulous!
Over the last 10 years, this award-winning troupe has built up a worldwide following and established an unrivalled reputation for their sophisticated portrayals of classic works, and for executing the most complex and daring manoeuvres on the ice. Bringing Sleeping Beauty on ice to Marina Bay Sands, The Imperial Ice Stars live up to their reputation and we say this show is truly magical!
Set to the magnificent music of Tchaikovsky, The Sleeping Beauty on Ice tells the classic fairytale love story through sublime world class skating, breathtaking high speed lifts and throws, awe-inspiring aerial gymnastics and fire effects – all in the intimacy of the theatre stage.
The audience is a mix of generations proving that this Sleeping Beauty on Ice show is one for all the family. From tiny little princesses in their beautiful sparkling dresses, accompanied by Mama or Grandma, to couples ‘o-oooing’ and ‘ahhhhing’ at the breathtaking high speed skating. With popcorn in hand we saw the first half of the show simply whizz by and at the 20 minutes interval bubba expressed just how much he was enjoying the show.
“It’s brilliant, I’m so happy you brought me to see it!”
…and we were happy to have had the opportunity to accompany bubba to this spell-binding and magical Sleeping Beauty adaptation.
The second half is where the love of a handsome man finally saved the Sleeping Beauty from her slumber, as he battled and defeated the evil sorcerer who had been the one to pass the sleeping potion to our Beauty.
With much joy, celebrations and lots of twirling in the Palace, the finale to Sleeping Beauty on Ice was splendid.
As the audience filed out of the Grand Theatre, there were little eyes filled with wonder after such a magical show. Our bubba said (Sleeping Beauty on Ice had) “taken him on a journey that he would not have wanted to miss“!
