SAMSUNG LAUNCHES ‘CULTURE EXPLORER’ APPLICATION TO EXPLORE SINGAPORE‘S HERITAGE LANDMARKS
This year is Singapore’s 50th birthday SG50. What better way to start the June Holidays in celebration by helping our Bubbas appreciate and learn more about Singapore’s history, culture and heritage. Making the exploration a fun-filled experience, Samsung has launched a new mobile app ‘Culture Explorer’ for all Android users, using augmented reality technology to appeal to the young generation to help enhance their appreciation for Singapore’s culture and heritage landmarks.
With Samsung’s ‘Culture Explorer’, learning about Singapore’s history and heritage is only a few swipes away- and not to mention some finger works and pointing the mobile phone camera at the sites- and you will be brought back in time to see how these landmarks have evolved.
Singapore has been picked as the first Southeast Asian country to roll out the ‘Culture Explorer’ which is very appropriate in celebration and in line with the SG50 activities. In the initial launch, the ‘Culture Explorer’ App will enable users to learn more about the rich history and heritage behind Singapore popular landmarks like:
- National Museum of Singapore
- Singapore Botanic Gardens
- Victoria Theatre & Victoria Concert Hall
- The Art House (available in July 2015)
- Raffles Hotel (available in July 2015)
What users will experience through Samsung ‘Culture Explorer’ Mobile App:
– Read the facts and history of the heritage landmarks’ timelines.
– ‘Go back in time’.
– Take a selfie of themselves or loved ones and superimpose on pictures of the landmarks. Did we say the ‘Culture Explorer’ App also comes with editing tools allowing you to use pictures from your own galleries? (Needless to say, you can see from Bubba’s selfie in front of Victoria Concert that we are not good at editing).
Working with National Heritage Board (NHB), National Parks Board (NParks) and Singapore Commission for United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), Samsung Electronics Singapore hopes to connect communities and generate greater appreciation of Singapore’s culture and heritage through ‘Culture Explorer’ App.
Samsung ‘Culture Explorer’ is compatible with all Android smartphones and tablets, and can be downloaded for free from Google Play Store and Galaxy Apps.
