THE ONE-OF-A-KIND DBS MARINA REGATTA 2015 : BIGGER AND BETTER THAN EVER AND PROMISES TO BE A SUPER FUN WATER SPORTING EVENT

DBS Marina Regatta 2015 is back and, by joining along with the 28th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games and celebrating SG50, this super fun water sporting event is all set to be bigger and better than ever before.

We dive in to Singapore’s biggest water sporting event, DBS Marina Regatta 2015, and find out why this super fun water sporting event will be fun for all the family.

DBS Marina Regatta 2015 spans across 3 weekends and, with admission being absolutely free, including, not only races that need your support, but also many fringe ‘fun for all the family’ activities, this fun-filled water sports event is definitely something absolutely everyone can enjoy.

Weekend 1 (30th and 31st May 2015) highlights include:-

  • Paddle for Good – come on by and show your support for this simulated dragon boat race (on land) that will see public forming teams with, and paddling alongside, persons with disabilities.  Organisations who organise sports activities for persons with disabilities will receive donations from DBS of S$100 for every 1km paddled as well as the amount being matched dollar-for-dollar by the Care and Share movement led by Community Chest.
  • Asian Drum Challenge and Dance & Cheerleading Challenge – families with children of all ages can drop by to cheer on Asia’s best drum crews as well as seeing Dance and Cheerleading teams from schools and clubs as they battle for prizes (including cash prizes of S$5,000 and S$10,000 respectively).
  • DBS Movies by the Bay – on the eve of DBS Marina Regatta opening (29th May) and opening night (30th May) friends and families can gather for the 19th edition of DBS Movies by the Bay.  A different movie will be screened on each of the 2 nights.
  • Weekend 1 will also see Cycle by the Bay, Bumboat tours, Arcade Games/Kinect and more.

Weekend 2 (6th and 7th June 2015) highlights include:-

  • Regatta Cosplay Challenge – this much anticipated event will feature talents from across the region as they bring to life the final act of an online manga series created specially for the DBS Marina Regatta 2015.
  • “Watch the Sparks Fly” and be amazed by the pyrotechnics and laser show that promises to be a highlight of weekend 2.

Weekend 3 (13th and 14th June 2015) – falling during the excitement of the SEA Games, highlights of weekend 3 include:-

  • SEA Games Sailing – watch world-class sailing teams as they compete for gold
  • Weekend 3 visitors will also catch stand up paddling, stand up yoga, remote controlled boats and can enjoy refreshing drinks and snacks from pop-up cafes or laze on Singapore’s first urban beach at The Promontory.

That’s not all, with exciting and engaging activities running over all three weekends, whichever weekend you organise the family and had on down to the DBS Marina Regatta, you will be sure to find something everyone will enjoy.  Running activities over all three weekends include:-

  • Asian Food Festival
  • Artisanal Flea Market
  • Rock Climbing
  • Kids Zone
  • Living Art & Joyful Art Future Park
  • Flying Fox
  • Freefall Jump
