SEA LIFE LEGOLAND: An Interactive Way To Learn About Fishes

seal life legoland malaysia review

Looking for new places to explore this holiday? Head over to SEA LIFE Legoland, Malaysia!

Located at LEGOLAND Malaysia in Johor Bahru, SEA LIFE Legoland, Malaysia is home to 13,000 sea creatures from 120 species. Our favorite sea creatures are the tiny seahorses, moon jellies, and the friendly-looking sting rays!

Stepping into the aquarium was a fun experience for my 4 and 6-year-olds. They were quite excited to explore the different tanks and they want to touch everything! It was a good thing that the aquarium was built for children like them. The interactive screens placed at their eye-level encourage them to click on the pictures of the fish to learn more. They also got to touch a tiny sea star at the Rookpools.

What’s fun in the aquarium is the different game stations placed around the aquarium. The games teach them things like how plastic affects the ocean and the right conditions for coral to grow healthily. And since the aquarium is part of Sea Life Legoland, there are sea creatures and not-so-Mini-Figures all around.

My bubba’s favorite part of the aquarium was the game room with a projection of the deep ocean on the wall. They spend their time coloring different sea creatures on the touch pads, after which they “released” them into the ocean and the sea creatures will “swim” out onto the big screen!

But my favorite area was at level 1 where the “sunken ship” is. The large water tunnel features deep ocean sea creatures like the black tip reef shark and zebra shark.

We also went on a special Behind-The-Scenes tour to learn about animal healthcare and food preparation for the sea creatures. My bubbas learned that different fishes in the sea eat different kind of shrimps and fish, as well as the right condition of the water for the fishes to stay healthy. They probably won’t remember a thing, but it might have sparked their interest in animal healthcare. Who knows?

Overall, we spent about 45 minutes in the aquarium. If your children are older, they might spend a longer time playing the games and reading up on the fishes.
