COUNTRY-WIDE APPEAL FOR AWARENESS AND ACTION FOR SINGLE AND NEEDY MOTHERS
With over S$11.6 million committed globally since the Arthur Guinness Fund’s inception in 2009, social entrepreneurs across the world have been given a real boost in effecting real social change. From 2014, the Arthur Guinness Fund has become part of the wider Arthur Guinness Projects, created to celebrate and champion people whose ideas, passion and spirit are shaping our culture and identity. In taking over the Fund, the Projects are open to all talented and creative individuals with the vision and potential to make a positive contribution to our society.
This year, the Arthur Guinnes Projects has partnered with Cha Cha Cottage, a social enterprise that provides home-based work for women who are single providers in their families.
Guinness recently launched a Mother’s Day tribute video, leading to a digital pledge activation which will further lead to a symbolic light-up event this June, to raise $100,000 for the women behind Cha Cha Cottage.
Show your support for these women from now until 21st June by simply visiting it’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Guinness.sg For every click of support, Arthur Guinness Projects will donate $100 to Cha Cha Cottage.
The video tribute and pledge mechanism will culminate in a symbolic light-up event that will be held on 21st June 2014 where 1,000 candles will be lit – each representing the support accorded to these marginalised women by the rest of the country.

About Cha Cha Cottage and how they help their beneficiaries…
Cha Cha Cottage was established to support single and needy mothers, with the focus to help them regain their independence while caring for their families at the same time. Cha Cha Cottages trains its beneficiaries to make decorative scented candles, soaps, lotions, shampoos, shower gels and even upcycled bags and jewellery. Many single mothers are compelled to hold multiple jobs to make ends meet, working long hours outside the home and are not able to spend time caring for their family and children. Thus, such home-based cottage industry work that Cha Cha Cottages offers, enables single and needy mothers to earn a living while cultivating a tighter bond with their loved ones. In doing so, these single mothers cope better as the sole breadwinner of the family with their new found self-esteem achieved through financial independence and moral support from Cha Cha Cottage.
