October 13th 2013 was Japan Couture Night at Fide Fashion Weeks. Japan Couture Evening arguably has to be the most colourful and interesting night of fashion week. Japanese culture is represented through the interesting styles, mixed fabrics textures and structural designs.

Japanese couture designer Yoshiki Hishinuma is known for producing uniquely shaped clothes using inspiration from wind and air; as well as his ability to integrate technology into traditional Japanese tie dye designs. Yoshiki’s latest collection was clearly inspired by nature; some of his designs had flora and fauna prints. Yoshiki incorporated different themes such as nature, cosmic outerspace and distinctive Japanese culture into his three dimensional artistic gowns.

Frederick Lee was first of the two Singaporean shows that closed off Fide Fashion Weeks on 19th October 2013. Frederick Lee is definitely one of our Nation’s most talented and artistic designers. Sticking to his signature dark palette and amazing use of feathers, Frederick Lee presented a mesmerizing and captivating show that clearly seals his position as Singapore’s King of Haute Couture. Our nation’s pride blew the crowd away with his dark and mysterious “Gotham City” like collection. Although some may think that the collection borders on “eerie” brinks, yet it cannot be denied that the whole collection including the execution of the catwalk show was hauntingly gorgeous! Frederick Lee commanded a standing ovation from the crowd together with thundering claps when he took his bow at the end of his show.
