The children these days are more fortunate than children my time. Parents like me are concern if it is healthy to expose young children to gadgets like the ipad, iphone, tablets and nintendo wii at such a tender age. There are too many gadgets for them to play and it can be very addictive- so addictive that children are playing games more often than reading. Is this how their childhood should be? A happy childhood is supposed to be playing in the playgrounds (or out in the nature) or play marbles with other children, isn’t it?
Lately, I discovered an app called the 3 Groovy Pigs on my ipad which is both of an interactive game and a story book. This interactive E-storybook could be an answer to help bubba cultivate a reading habit as well nurture him.
The app is very educational, instilling a sense of team work, confidence, empathy and stories of friendship. It is also one of the first of products designed for iPad and iPhones to be educational & entertaining for children. With every page of the app being interactive, children can explore the in-games related to the story such as:
Aside from the engaging storyline, there are also features to engage your child’s creativity with the colouring game and sticker feature where the child can create their own poster by adding individual characters to selected backgrounds. All these games, challenges and interaction have been consulted with professional educators to develop a child’s skill through:
Last night, I read the 3 Groovy Pigs with Bubba and he was very fascinated by the storybook- the music and moving picture captivated him. I would recommend parents to download this app too to help their children to enjoy reading like bubba.
