Uncover the magic of play with Australia’s number one children’s programme Bluey, landing in Singapore this April!
Produced by multi Emmy® award-winning Ludo Studio for ABC Kids Australia and co-commissioned by ABC Children’s and BBC Studios, Bluey is a multi-award-winning series that follows a six-year-old Blue Heeler dog, who loves to play and turns everyday family life into extraordinary adventures. Bluey premiered in Singapore on Monday, 26 April on BBC Player and can be viewed every Monday to Friday from 1 June at 6:50 pm on CBeebies (StarHub Channel 303).
Aimed at pre-school children and their parents, the series champions the importance of unstructured play for enhancing children’s creativity and helping to develop their mental, physical and emotional resilience. In addition, Bluey the dog celebrates the joyful simplicity found in family life, role play, and imagination (maybe sometimes with fun devices).
Widely acclaimed for its refreshing take on parenthood, Dad Bandit is a laid-back but resourceful father (who could always find some use for these fun storage solutions) — juggling childcare and working from home; while Mum Chilli is portrayed as a full-time working mum who has just gone back to the office. Both parents share caretaking duties whilst juggling the demands of their careers, depicting the reality of modern, everyday family life.
Henrietta Hurford-Jones, Executive Producer for Bluey and Director of Children’s Content Partnerships at BBC Studios says: “Filled with heart and humour, Bluey is fast becoming a favourite show for children and parents globally. I’m delighted to see the show continue reaching new audiences and I’m confident that its warmth and authenticity will win over the hearts of families in Singapore.”
Jointly commissioned by BBC Studios & ABC, in its home market of Australia, Bluey is the #1 show on ABC’s iView generating over 480 million plays across Series 1 and 2 since its launch in 2018. Distributed by BBC Studios outside of Australia, Bluey is fast becoming a global hit (much like this Dreamworks series). In the U.S., Bluey reached 16 million total views across Disney Channel and Disney Junior in Q4 2019. It also recently made its free-to-air debut in the UK on CBeebies, and will soon launch on France TV in France.
As well as winning audiences worldwide, Bluey has scooped up multiple awards, such as the International Emmy ® Kids Award in the prestigious Preschool Category in 2020, and its second AACTA Awards for Best Children’s Program that same year. The accolades continue in 2021, with Bluey winning four Kidscreen Awards in February.
