Ageing and physiological stressors such as prolonged sun exposure can contribute to the reduction of NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) levels in cells. Reduced NAD+ in skin cells then inhibits optimal skin repair and rejuvenation that is essential for healthy and radiant skin and contributes to declined cellular function and metabolism.
Thankfully, Tru Niagen® Beauty – the world’s first Niagen based beauty supplement, has made its debut in Singapore on 25 March 2021, with Watsons Singapore as the first in South East Asia to retail this product.
Tru Niagen Beauty is a product innovation co-created by A.S. Watson and global bioscience company ChromaDex, who launched Tru Niagen exclusively in Watsons stores in 2017. The new variant of the original – named Tru Niagen Beauty – was launched in Hong Kong last year, garnering several awards and accolades.
“Our customers today are willing to invest more in their health in order to remain active and energetic through their adulthood and into their golden years. This resulted in a strong demand for Tru Niagen since its launch in 2017. Research has also shown that consumers desire to age gracefully and are receptive to holistic beauty care, which gave us an impetus to work with ChromaDex to diversify Tru Niagen and address this needs-gap – leading to the formulation of Tru Niagen Beauty. We are confident that this product will be well-received in Singapore, especially amongst consumers in the 35-55 age group,” enthused Ms Goh Choon Gek, Trading Director of Watsons Singapore.
How does Tru Niagen Beauty work?
Niagen, an active patented ingredient in Tru Niagen Beauty, works by increasing NAD+ levels in cells to repair and revitalise the skin from the inside out.
In addition, the proprietary blend of hero ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and biotin in Tru Niagen Beauty complements topical beauty regimes such as the use of serums, by working at a cellular level to provide the skin with all-around hydration and protection.
Hyaluronic acid is a proven humectant used by many skincare brands out there. It draws and holds water to supercharge hydration in the skin, thereby helping to smoothen fine lines and wrinkles for a plumper, more polished complexion.
Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin that is not stored in the body. With regular intake, biotin can help to regulate metabolism and promote top-to-toe care by supporting healthier hair, less skin problems (such as maskne) and fortified nail structures.
What is NAD+?
NAD+ is a vital coenzyme that is naturally produced in the body. It promotes cellular defence, resilience and repair. NAD+ declines with age, and stressors such as intense exercise, immune stress, and sleep disruption, can also contribute to the hastening of NAD+ depletion.
The main function of NAD+ is in our cells’ mitochondria, a membrane-bound cell organelle that generates most of the chemical energy needed to power the cell’s biochemical reactions. It is also nicknamed ”the powerhouse of the cell”.
Consumption
Two 100mg capsules of Tru Niagen Beauty daily is recommended for optimal cellular energy and defence.
Tru Niagen Beauty retails at $79.90 per bottle (60 pills) and will be made available from 25 March 2021 progressively across all 100 Watsons stores islandwide and online at www.watsons.com.sg.
